If there’s one place in Romania that I felt so at peace, energized, felt so close to God and recharged my own belief system… I had it when we visited Barsana Monastery in Maramures…
Barsana Monastery isn’t only a UNESCO Heritage but with its location set on a highland, with backdrops of mountain with trees boasting their autumn colors, the crisp autumn weather… I was in paradise.
With the unique architectures and patiently carved traditional designs, they added to the magnifique beauty of the monastery.
The flowering plants around and autumn scents added to the solemn and quiet atmosphere of the monastery.
If in the near future I will be able to come back in Maramures, I will surely go back to this place and spend hours or even a whole day here.
Barsana Monastery is really idyllic beyond description. Here are the stunning photos of Barsana Monastery that I was able to capture. I hope they’ll capture your hearts too and will make you spend some time soon to Barsana Monastery.
If you are going around Maramures with a local guide, they will usually stop along the way to give respect. This is a 300-year old cross in Berbesti Village.
I was in Maramures during the month of October which is Autumn season. It was a common scene to see flock of sheep along the fields and meadows along the way. As much I wanted to go near them, I was warned that if there are sheep, there are shepherd dogs as well. A reminder not to go near them otherwise the shepherd dogs will attack.
And here’s Barsana Monastery…
